Our Einstein Elementary PTSA is happy to bring the Geographic Bee to our school for another year! 

Geography Bee is a great opportunity for our kids to learn and sharpen their geography skills!

Enrollment Information

  • Eligibility: Any student in Grades 4 - 5
  • Fee: None

Important Geography Bee Dates

  • Preliminary Round: Monday, January 21st 2020 - 4:00 PM in Library (UPDATED)
  • Final and Championship round: Tuesday, January 21st 2020 - After Preliminary Round in Library (UPDATED)
  • State Qualifying Test: Monday, January 27th 2020 - 4:00 PM in Library

We need volunteers to help us during the testing dates. If you would like to help, please SIGN UP HERE.

Dates are subject to change slightly due to space availability. Participants will be notified of any changes.

How Does the Geography Bee Work?

The Geography Bee consists of multiple rounds:

Preliminary round

  • 20 geography questions on a written test.
  • Top 10 contestants advance to the final round. 

Final Round

  • Contestants are asked geography questions.
  • Contestants with 2 incorrect answers are eliminated.
  • Top 2 contestants advance to the championship round.

 Championship Round

  • 3 written geography questions answered in 15 seconds.
  • Tie-breaker is single elimination.
  • School winner advances to state qualifying test.

State qualifying test

  • 60 minutes.
  • Online geography questions.
  • Top 100 scoring students in state qualify to compete in the State Geography Bee.
 

After You Register/Study Materials

The Study Tool Kit will be made available after registration.

You can prepare for this competition from home. The Study Tool Kit includes blank maps of the U.S., the world, and Africa, as well as past GeoBee questions related to each. See below for more detailed information about the kit:

Part 1 (Pages 2-3)
Part 1 includes 10 questions and a blank map of the United States. Prior to answering the questions, students can test their knowledge of the locations of each state by filling out the map on page 3. Then, students can answer the questions using the map they completed! 

Part 2 (Pages 4-5)
Part 2 includes 10 questions and a blank map of the world. Prior to answering the questions, students can test their knowledge of the locations of each of the seven continents and four oceans by filling out the map on page 5. Then, students can answer the questions using the map they completed!

Part 3 (Pages 6-7)
Part 3 includes 10 questions and a blank map of Africa. Prior to answering the questions, students can test their knowledge of the locations of each of the 54 countries of Africa by filling out the map on page 7. Then, students can answer the questions using the map they completed!

The answer key for both parts can be found on page 8, along with additional study resources.
