Einstein PTSA presents the 2024-25 Spelling Bee. Spelling Bee is a great way for students to expand their word knowledge and learn how to stand up in front of peers and compete in a friendly way.

Please download/view the following documents below to have your child start preparing for Einstein PTSA's Spelling Bee!

  • 2025 Spelling Bee Rules: Please try to go through the rules book to get a clear insight into what to expect.
  • Word List (450 Words): Used for the Preliminary Written Round. You can find the definitions of the words in the Vocabulary List That will be emailed to you after registration.
  • Words of the Champions 2025 List : It is recommended to review this list as some words from this will be used in the Final School Spelling Bee, if we exhaust the list of 450 words. The list will also be useful for the school winner, who will be participating in the regional competition.
  • Bee’s Great Words, Great Works Reading List: Includes engaging, grade-appropriate books for elementary and middle school students. All of the words from 2025 School Spelling Bee Study List can be found in the Great Words, Great Works books, allowing your students to get in depth knowledge of the usage of those words.
  • Study Tips: It takes hard work and dedication to earn the title of best speller in the world! These are Scripps' top tips for success at every level, from classroom to school and regional to national levels.
  • Merriam Webster Dictionary: It is recommended that you use this source to hear the pronunciation of each and every word. It also has details about the origin of the word, examples, alternate pronunciation and meaning. This website is recommended by Scripps for pronunciation. The Pronouncer will use this site as the standard for both, final school spelling bee and the regionals.

Enrollment Information

  • Registration Dates:

  •              Opens November 1st

Closes November 29th 

          November 18th for Classes

  •  Cancellation date: December 1st
  • Preliminary Written Round (online): January
  • Eligibility: Any student in Grades 1-5 (Kindergarteners are not eligible)
  • Updated rules for 2024-2025 can be found here.  
  • Fee: $20 This fee covers enrollment, a participation certificate, and entry into the Final School Spelling Bee provided that the student qualifies by first passing the preliminary round. Success Funds are available for this program.  Cost should not be a barrier to participating.  Email Mr. Ren at bren@lwsd.org for more information.  
  • 4 Spelling Bee Classes  4-5pm  $60

    December 12 (Thursday) Library
    January 9 (Thursday) Library

    We’ll be hosting mock bees and providing strategies for effective learning. Students will have the chance to work together in groups on words and definitions, helping them strengthen their understanding while building skills. This class will also give them valuable experience with the Spelling Bee process, making it a great way to prepare.

    Please note, this is optional and not required.

    Success Funds are available for this program.  Cost should not be a barrier to participating.  Email Mr. Ren at bren@lwsd.org for more information.  

     

    • Preliminary Written Round (online):  January , 2025 (Online test link will be shared); Final School Spelling Bee:  February 6th after school in the Einstein Library.  

     

  • Payment: Payment is made through online registration via credit card or check made out to Einstein PTSA.
  • Cancellations: For a refund, all cancellations must be requested by . Please email spellingbee@einsteinptsa.org with the cancellation request.
